Abstract Deadline: Friday 21st October 2016

You are invited to submit a poster for presentation at the ACBI's Annual Conference being held on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November. We encourage you to participate by submitting abstracts on all areas of laboratory medicine.
Subject areas include, but are not limited to:
  • Clinical cases
  • Metabolic desease
  • Hepatology
  • Modecular biology
  • Endrocrinology
  • Point of care
  • Bone
  • Vitamins
  • Nutrition
  • Immunisation
  • Analytical
  • IT
  • Quality Improvement
  • Basic research
  • Audit
  • Management issues

Rules for Submission

You must register for the conference if you are submitting a poster.

If the first presenting author cannot attend the conference they must nominated someone to attend in their place.

Geraldine Roberts Medal

The Geraldine Roberts Medal will be awarded for the best scientific poster. This will be decided by a panel of judges appointed by the ACBI.

Criteria judged include: quality of abstract / scientific rigour / relevance / clarity / layout / educational value.

Presenting author must attend poster session on both days (Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November) to be eligible for the poster prize.

The judges will choose five finalists.

Judges will spend five munutes questioning the finalists between 13:45 and 14:15 on Saturday afternoon.

Winner will be announced after the final lecture on Saturday afternoon.

Poster Display Information

Poster dimensions: 1 metre wide by 2 meter high (do not exceed).

Posters will be displayed Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November.

Consider bringing A4 photocopies of the poster.

Abstract Requirements

Format The abstract must be submitted in MS Word format.
Content All Abstracts must include the following information:
  • title of abstract
  • names and address of all authors (presenting author underlined)
  • objectives
  • study design
  • results
  • conclusion
Text not to exceed 300 words.
Figures and graphs should NOT be included with the abstract.
Abstract should not contain vague statements such as "the results will be discussed".
Submission All abstracts are to be submitted online by clicking on the button above.
Please note you should have registered for the conference prior to submitting an abstract by using the email and password that you registered with for the conference.
Abstract acknowledgement You will receive an automated email acknowledging your abstract submission.
You will also receive a poster number at a later date when the organising committee are satisfied that your poster is suitable for inclusion in the Proceedings Manual.
NB. If you do not receive a poster number within a week of closing date for abstract submissions, then please do contact the committee immediately.
Deadline Abstracts must be received by end of day on
Friday 21st October 2016.
